For participants, it's important to realize that paid online surveys have become a haven for Internet scam artists. Participants in online surveys should be aware that there are many unscrupulous middlemen out there who purport to sell proprietary lists of online survey companies that will help you "Earn $3000 a month!" while "Working from home!" Many of these middlemen charge a registration fee for accessing their lists, which are in fact freely available through simple a Google search.
Actually after spending these few months meeting people in meetups, there is this one survey software API that I think we all need. A social profile matching software (like a dating software showing % of personality matching). But it is every individual had its own personal database of questions instead (for every category of questions we also get answering same type of questions meeting new people eg profession,position, work experience, interest/hobby, etc) What if we can each build a database of thousands of different questions answer on a scale of 1-5 and the application will just auto compare all those questions and show up with 2 circles which are the interception of our common interest or personality etc. Eg What is your view on gay marriage? If you put 1 on strong agree and me 5 strongly disagree, then it can also tell us its a topic we should not touch on for a first meeting.
Lastly, because slight modifications in question wording can affect responses, identical question wording should be used when the intention is to compare results to those from earlier surveys (see measuring change over time for more information). Similarly, because question wording and responses can vary based on the mode used to survey respondents, researchers should carefully evaluate the likely effects on trend measurements if a different survey mode will be used to assess change in opinion over time (see collecting survey data for more information).
The point of each survey is to present you with a topic you're interested in and qualified to discuss for the benefit of the researcher. Surveys range in time required, from very short to quite long. Because researchers are looking for opinions only from certain segments of people, you may find you have to try a few surveys before you're qualified to give your opinion on one. Keep at it, and you'll eventually find one that's right up your alley.
Define the research question: This is critically important to the success of a survey research project. Without a clearly defined question, it is difficult to determine the best approach for conducting the survey. For example, based on the research question, are the needed data exploratory, descriptive, or causal? The answer to this basic question has huge implications for the entire research process, yet it is often not directly addressed.
