Perhaps the most important part of the survey process is the creation of questions that accurately measure the opinions, experiences and behaviors of the public. Accurate random sampling and high response rates will be wasted if the information gathered is built on a shaky foundation of ambiguous or biased questions. Creating good measures involves both writing good questions and organizing them to form the questionnaire.
But once you’re in your home office—alone, every day—you might start to miss that collegial camaraderie. Since the UPS incident, I’ve reached out more to colleagues via IM and will post cute pics of my new puppy for my colleagues to see on Yammer. And when we’re on deadline, we even (gasp!) talk on the phone. It’s helped tremendously to make the disconnect not feel so severe. It’s a good balance between having peace and quiet when you need it and much-needed interaction with others, too.
You may not realize it, but online writing jobs can be found in a bazillion different places. Think about it, every website needs somebody to write content. From business websites to blogs, writers can find jobs at thousands of different online locations. While they’re not always the highest paying, online writing jobs can also be found on various job boards.
What It Is: Companies like Google and Yahoo! give you information to search for, and you tell them how closely their results matched what you were looking for. Does a search for Lady Antebellum turn up sites about the music group or links to pre–Civil War period information? If you are Latina, for example, you might be asked to search the way a Spanish speaker might perform a search in English. Jobs are usually between 10 to 25 hours a week.
You'll add your survey questions, typing multiple choice answers in a list instead of having to type each entry separately. There's even answer options that are designed specifically for mobile devices—you can grab locations, scan QR codes, capture images and more right from a survey. Then, you'll deploy your survey to iOS and Android devices, where they can be filled out offline and sync their data back when you're online again. And you can use the same tool to build online surveys for your website, too.
That's why the UP Global team uses Zapier to send email notifications of their new SurveyGizmo survey responses, to help manage Startup Weekend and their interactions with their sponsor, Coca-Cola. "With 10,000 volunteers in more than 110 countries, coordinating volunteers and Coke representatives is no small feat," says Mitchell Cuevas, senior marketing director at UP Global. But it's easier with Zapier.
Marketer Adrien O'leary uses Zapier to share his FluidSurveys survey with every new contact he adds to his Knack database. Zapier copies the email of the contact, and sends it to FluidSurveys, which then sends the survey invite to the new contact automatically. "I also pass parameters in the survey URL so some elements of the survey (like name of a client's business) can be customized," says Adrien.
Students without a valid student email address cannot benefit from this offer. We cannot accept student cards etc. either. 3. Reporting. As survey responses come in or after a survey is complete, you'll want to see how people responded. All products have the ability to see how individual respondents answered all questions. They can also generate at least basic bar and pie charts to provide simple visualization along with some way to export both the data (often in a spreadsheet-ready form) and the charts (often in a format such as PDF or Microsoft PowerPoint). More advanced products can augment these charts with various measures such as averages and response count, and then filter the results based on the responses to different questions. Or they can produce crosstabs, share customized reports with colleagues, and even dip into more analyses that require a bit of statistics expertise.
Although there are thousands of legitimate work-at-home jobs available, it’s always a good idea to proceed with caution. There are plenty of less than stellar opportunities out there, promising big results with little or no return. While some of these are just bad gigs, others are straight up scams, looking to prey on dreams of those looking for a real work-at-home jobs.
